San Da Kickboxing

San Da Kickboxing, also known as Sanshou, is a dynamic combat sport originating from China that combines punches, kicks, sweeps, and throws. Fighters can strike, catch kicks, and execute takedowns, making it a complete and fluid striking system.

San Da is an excellent choice for those looking to bridge the gap into MMA, as it transitions seamlessly from stand-up striking to wrestling-style takedowns. It is fought on a Lei Tai, raised platform similar to a Boxing ring, except it has no ropes, so this allows the practitioners to throw or push each other off the Lei Tai for maximum points.

Although it often flies under the radar, San Da is an exciting and fast-paced spectator sport that deserves greater recognition. International amateur competitions are governed by the International Wushu Federation (IWUF), while in the UK they are overseen by the British Council for Chinese Martial Arts (BCCMA). Competitors can take part under both light and full-contact rules, with professional San Da fights also held around the world.

At Nam Yang Brighton we have consistently produced National champions in San Da Kickboxing(full contact) and Qing Da(light contact). We offer San Da classes and one to ones at our Brighton branch
