Muay Thai in Hove
Our dedicated instructor team delivers some of the best Muay Thai training in Hove, with classes open to everyone — from complete beginners and fitness enthusiasts to amateur and professional fighters.
In each session, you’ll learn:
- Striking fundamentals — punches, kicks, knees, and elbows
- Clinch techniques, catches, and sweeps
- Light, technical sparring to build confidence and skill
Sparring is an important part of Muay Thai training at Nam Yang, but it’s always controlled, safe, and supportive. You’ll develop your technique at your own pace while improving strength, coordination, and confidence.
Whether you’re training for fitness, competition, or personal growth, our Muay Thai classes offer an energising full-body workout in a friendly, community-driven environment.

Chi Gong and Shuang Yang
Our Chi Gong sessions are a popular and restorative part of our Hove timetable. With both daytime and evening classes available, they offer a fantastic opportunity to unwind, de-stress, and explore a fascinating traditional art. Regular Chi Gong practice brings a wide range of mental and physical health benefits, improving focus, balance, and overall wellbeing.
We also teach Shuang Yang, a soft, flowing martial art similar in feel to Tai Chi. Originating from the Southern Shaolin Temple in Fujian Province, China, Shuang Yang promotes relaxation, mindfulness, and inner strength through graceful, meditative movement.
You’re warmly invited to come for a free trial class and experience our full-time training centre in Hove. Our facility is fully equipped with a workout station, punch bags, a boxing ring, and fitness equipment — creating an inclusive space for everyone to train, learn, and grow.
At Nam Yang, we’re proud to be part of the Hove Methodist Church Community Hub, alongside inspiring local organisations such as HMC, Martlets Choir, Food and Friendship, and Chomp. Through our martial arts and combat sports programmes, we aim to expand our vibrant community and ensure everyone — including marginalised groups — has access to high-quality training and support.
Nam Yang provide a warm and welcoming environment and a safe space for all people to come and enjoy combat sports and martial arts. It is a space of sanctuary and a no hate space for all people. We want to build a community were everyone is welcome and has a place to call home.
