Brighton Savate Kickboxing

Brighton Savate Kickboxing

We are delighted to offer the French Kickboxing style: ‘Savate Boxe Francais’. Known for it’s fantastic array of kicks and intricate footwork. Savate kickboxing is famous for being an elegant style of combat and that practitioners must use footwear specially designed for Savate. Brighton Savate are the only club to teach Savate Kickboxing on the south coast.

At Brighton Savate we offer Assaut (light contact) and Combat (full contact) training. Savate has a very logical grading system, which practitioners can progress with at their own pace; making it a great sport for self development.

Savate is a wonderfully dynamic system of Kickboxing. It’s a fast, high-octane form of kickboxing where the practitioner relies on intricate footwork and a huge array of kicking techniques. It is hard to find a system of angles and footwork to rival that of Savate.

Brighton Savate was started at the beginning of 2017. It is a school under the Toronto Savate banner. Instructor Sam Byford-Winter spent 2 years training full time with Toronto Savate Chief Instructor and former French champion Gabriel Solignac. Also, in January 2021 Sam was voted in as the President of the Great British Savate Federation.

Gabriel is a Silver Glove ranked master of BF Savate, with countless number of fights under his belt.Gabriel is a French champion in both Assaut and Combat and a European Kickboxing champion too. But after leaving Toronto in 2018 Gabriel returned to his home town and opened Ales MMA, one of the first MMA gyms in southern France.

We have 3 former UK national Savate champions and 4 former UK vice champions training as part of our stable of competitors. The team competes regularly at both National and International events.
